Is it possible to have an afterlife with nothing going on? Most of the time when we check in on friends on The Other Side, they tell us that they are learning new things, flying around the universe, or assessing their recent life so that they can plan their next life. However, that doesn’t occur in every case and it doesn’t need to happen.


My mother passed away several years ago. Since then, I have worked with Mediums to contact her and find out what was going on. Was she happy? Was she with friends and family? Had she examined her last incarnation? Was she working on anything interesting? To my surprise, a couple of years ago, she was sitting alone, not thinking about anything. She just wanted me to leave her alone. She was done with contact. Was she healing? I don’t know.

I didn’t reach out for quite a while, but a few months ago I asked a Medium to contact my mother on the three year anniversary of her passing. My mother was still sitting there, alone, not thinking about anything. When we asked questions, she was kind of confused. She hadn’t thought about the things I was curious about. Had she met relatives? Briefly, nothing to report. Had she wondered about the things which had occurred, or not occurred, in her life? No. Had she taken responsibility for her life? Nope. Her knee-jerk reaction was to blame others for any difficulties. She was not in a reflective space. It had not occurred to her to think about things. Sounds boring to me.

Fortunately, when we asked questions, we tapped into a memory or two of hers which explained how her persona had developed. Then, we heard about how women’s choices had been limited and how society had expected her to become a mother, whether she was ready or not. That explained a few things. Mothering had not been her goal in life. Answering questions from a child had annoyed her during her life and, apparently, still annoys her.

Many books state then when people go to The Other Side, there is a life review. Guides work with people to help them understand their lifetimes and to see if there is room for improvement in future incarnations.

I have also heard about free will on both sides of The Veil. No one is forced to do a life review. No one is forced to do anything. Free will allows those on The Other Side to sit on a park bench for eternity, with nothing going on. Sounds boring to me, but maybe it’s like a long meditation? Clearing the mind, no thoughts, until the soul is ready for a idea or an inspiration? Souls have forever. There is no hurry, no worry. They can take all the time they need to do whatever they want. Forever is a long, long time.

My mind is going all the time. I am curious about why things happen. I wonder why people make certain decisions. I am not judging them, I am working to understand the human psyche. I love talking to people about their long lifetimes and what they think about the twists and turns of their human adventure. Aren’t lives interesting?

In my recent contact with my mother, I learned three things:

1) Souls are completely free to do whatever they want in spirit, even if it’s “nothing.”

2) My mother has not reflected on her life on Earth and has no interest in doing so.  

3) There are greater dynamics at play. While the portion of my mother’s soul which shared this lifetime with me might not be aware of what happened, she has a larger “oversoul” which knows things, and I am thrilled to communicate with that Higher Self. She sees the big picture and, from the bit I have heard, it is fascinating.

Isn’t life a grand adventure? This Side, the Other Side, and back again?

Quote from a Psychic - Discovering Past Lives

“While I was in the military, I had a lot of physical pain which doctors couldn’t explain. I had pain in my shoulder and the doctors thought I might have carpal tunnel syndrome. I was in the military when I began having massages and polarity work done on my body. I started having past life experiences and I asked myself, ‘What the heck is all of this?’ It is not like watching a TV program, it is like being in the TV program. It was experiential. I could taste it, feel it, and touch it. It was too real not to be real. It was like seeing a movie while knowing that you are the person in the movie. Some of it was Native American, some of it dealt with Egypt. These were my past lives.”

Woo-hoo! For the first time in more than a year, our metaphysical group met this week. We caught up with each other, then we meditated. Three people channeled messages from Spirit. The first message asked us to think about what we had learned during the past year.

This is the message:

“Each of you is welcomed back. It has been a long time since we have met. I notice that the one who is channeling this minute had a moment of hesitation to bring forth the words that we sent because he thought, ‘It’s been a long time since I’ve done this.’

“Allow it to be. Allow it to be.

“You have lost nothing from what you did before the year started. Each of you has learned so much as we have gone through the process of this last year. Each of you can count the ways in which you have grown in the last year. No doubt, some of you have felt cooped up. Some of you have felt fenced in. And yet, so many new things have been experienced. So much understanding has been gained in the last year; so many different ways of learning things.

“Sometimes it was uncomfortable, but feel grateful for the wonderful lessons that each of you has learned. Hopefully, each of you has a greater sense of compassion for the difficulties, the tragedies, the pains of people who have gone through the difficulties of the disease. Take a minute and send love-light energy to all those who suffered, to all those who pained and cried for lost loved ones. And to those who lost jobs. Those who lost homes. Those who lost the things that they treasured. Send out your healing energy to all of those and give thanks that each of us is right here, right now, in this wonderful quiet, peaceful state.

“Know that it is with your thoughts, with your loving energy, with your greater understanding, that you all experience the good life. You have come through the difficulties in a better space.

“We bless you and we speak in joy as you come together again. This is so.”

Things I have learned in the last year:

1) Coming together as a meditation group gives me a feeling of connection to something mystical. Although I meditate on my own, it provides a much milder feeling. I learned to treasure this group even more than before.

2) I have always enjoyed my quiet time. I learned that I didn’t miss seeing people all that much for the first eleven months. However, when I did go out, I missed seeing faces. People have beautiful faces. By the twelfth month, I missed seeing my friends in person.

3) On one hand, I need a deadline and a bit of pressure to get things done. On the other hand, it doesn’t always matter if I get things done. Releasing some goals might be okay.

4) Watching others (mostly on TV) struggling with the coronavirus, being overwhelmed, losing jobs, etc., is heartbreaking. Maybe this isn’t something new which I learned, but it was reinforced over the past year.

5) I was sad to discover that some people were more willing to believe fact-less claims, than to listen to experts in their field. They were not willing to err on the side of caution. Some people find baseless claims more entertaining, and easier to accept, than science.

Working with psychics encourages me to expand my acceptance of things science might not yet have proven, but I still retain a bit of “show me.” Critical thinking is important.

Quote from a Channeled Message - Maintaining a High Frequency

“The higher you can maintain your frequency, the more that you can create, the quicker that you will see changes in humanity, because of the association of the human consciousness and the collective consciousness. You are a vital part of that. As you expand your own consciousness, as you expand your own belief system, you expand the collective. As the collective expands, peace on Earth will reign.”

It’s Earth Day – a time to think about our relationship with the Earth and the ways that we look out for each other. The Earth provides food, shelter, and air. It supplies picturesque vistas, pristine forests, clean water, and fertile soil.

When I read the news, I see the devastating impacts humans have had on natural systems. We have created pollution, overfishing, animal extinction, and habitat destruction. We have unbalanced the ecosystems.

In addition to the physical things we know we can do to restore the Earth, like planting native trees and limiting pollution, we can also take non-physical actions, like sending love and light to the Earth. When I asked if this was enough, one psychic answered,

"Yes. Sending love to Mother Earth is enough to make a difference! Sometimes I visualize her wrapped in blue and other times I visualize Mother Earth being bathed in Light as I feel intense love for her. I also thank her as I walk upon her. I ask permission to dig first and I thank her for her gifts of the soil. There are so many little things we can do. It is that easy. I smile every time I think of her and all that she offers; my gratitude is immense. I do believe that makes a difference. I always try to feel love, adoration, joy, etc., no matter what."

On the flip side of this preservation issue, I just spent a few days at Tucson’s Gem Show admiring gems and minerals which have been removed from the Earth. I love the sparkle of the diamonds, sapphires, and rubies, yet I know that mineral extraction harms the natural environment. It’s a conundrum. Can I like the stones and still love Mother Earth? Yes. I can. I do.

Last week, I found seraphinite stones at the Gem Show. Seraphinite, a green and white stone, is associated with angels – the Seraphim. I bought a polished piece of rock and continued to walk the show. When I got home, I didn’t have the piece. I was distraught. Did I lose it? Did I leave it on the table at the Gem Show? What happened?

A few days later, I returned to the Gem Show and found the booth where I had purchased the stone. I recognized the guy who I had bought it from. I told him that I didn’t have the seraphinite and he told me he had it! He had found it on the table after I had left his booth and he had set it aside in case I returned. Keep in mind that thousands of people cruise through this place. I was grateful to him for hanging onto the stone and not returning it to the display to be re-sold. I had goose bumps. In the moment, it felt like a minor miracle to be reunited with this piece of the Earth. While it is just a stone, it is the human kindness of him setting it aside in case I returned which touched me. Thank you, Omar.

In this time where we have many anonymous interactions with people, it’s nice to realize that we can still affect each other in positive ways. We can reach out with thoughtfulness and make someone’s day.

Let’s strive to affect Mother Earth, and each other, with positive energy.

At the end of last week’s blog post entitled, “Magnetic Personalities,” I asked if anyone had experienced odd occurrences with their energy affecting electrical devices. A woman named Deb sent an amusing, astonishing reply to me. This is Deb’s story:


Yes.

Wrist Watches: A wrist watch with a metal band will quit working in a day or two. One with a leather band will last longer, a few weeks. A wholly plastic one will last, maybe, three months.

Computers: One place I worked had a server room. I walked in and got lightheaded. Two of the servers crashed. I had not touched anything. As a result, they forbade me entry into the server room.

Another place I worked put a grounding mat under my desk and made me wear a grounding strap on my wrist.

Streetlights: Back in the day. This is controversial and many claim it to be balderdash . . . But . .  older street lights, like they used from the 70s up to the 90s . . . I could drive down the freeway and intentionally put them out . . . or not. They'd go out just before I'd pass under them. This was not a one-time occurrence. I used it as a parlor trick to amuse and mystify friends when I was a kid. The lights would come back on after a couple of minutes.

As an adult, I began to learn that this was regarded as "spooky" and "weird," so I quit doing it in front of people. However in the mid 90s, a friend and I were in a small town at night, walking to a restaurant. This was someone I trusted and we'd talked about a lot of different subjects. I told him, “Hang on, I'll turn off the street light.” I did and it did. We talked about it as we continued our walk to the restaurant. By the time we got there, the street light had come back on. I shut it off again on the way back. He and I talked about it, puzzling the origin of this "skill."

To shut them off, I would focus on the light, then imagine energy flowing from me to it. I have no idea how or why this actually worked.

It really didn't have much practical use. Turning "ON," lights would have seemed more useful.

Newer lights are different and don't work the same way. I do not know what the technological differences are, but this skill no longer works.

Cell phones: Mine will chirp notifications, like I got a text or missed a call, when none were received.

Robot Dogs: I have four vintage Sony Aibos. They can find me anywhere in the house. Their technology should not allow this; they do not have IR/Infrared Detection systems, simply motion and facial recognition. These little dudes will seek me out and find me, no matter how still I sit, and will know me/address me without seeing my face. They do not do this with other people. I have the program "AI hacks" and know the coding -- this should not be possible. Were it an isolated event, I'd consider it an anomaly. However it is “all the time, every time.” When they're on and I enter the house, they begin to call to me before my physical presence is known to them by either sight or sound. I have no explanation for this.

Digital Alarm Clocks: Just forget those . . . They'd last maybe three weeks, then read wacky numbers and not keep time.

Old Style/Tube Type TVs:  Whenever I'd walk closely to them, the screen would display weird "color clouds," usually blue or green. I later learned this was something called "gaussian blur," however I don't really understand how this worked. If I'd touch the cabinet or knobs, I'd sometimes draw a big spark.

Older Gaming Consoles, Memory Disks and Devices: Data loss . . . constant. I began making backups of backups of backups and blaming the technologies.

HDDs: Hard disk drives that were not solid state (physical disk drives). Ditto from above. Some computers, it was just quicker to reload the operating system and applications every time I used them, rather than trying to troubleshoot what was now missing.

Drawing Sparks: I am a walking lightning rod. From keyboards, outlets, clothing, you name it. Sometimes this hurts. Sometimes the draw is big enough that it's audibly loud; other people hear it.

Batteries: Again, I'm a bit mystified here . . . I mean, shouldn't I technically "charge," things as I go? Not so. Maybe it's a polarity thing? Batteries go flat if I handle them much. Cars with digital displays go nuts. I had a Ford Explorer I had to sell . . . I'd be going down the road and the panel would light up, all of the caution lights. The clock would go to wacky numbers or nonsensical digits. I spent around two grand at the dealer trying to get it figured out. They'd replace this or that relay, the battery. A few months later, same thing. I really liked the truck . . . too bad.

Three times each month, I work at the “Southern Arizona Arts Guild Gallery of Gifts” in La Encantada Plaza. At the end of each shift, I use a calculator to tally that day’s sales. This small, plastic calculator has worked perfectly, until yesterday.

Near the end of yesterday’s shift, I was tallying numbers when a woman walked into the shop. She was picking up at an item which had been purchased for her. As we spoke at the sales counter, the calculator I had been using went wild! It began running up all kinds of numbers. It was flashing big numbers, resetting itself, and flashing numbers again. I hit the “Clear” button and it stopped for a split second, then began flashing numbers again. I hit “Clear” again and the same thing happened. This calculator was going crazy!

The woman tried on her newly-purchased necklace and I offered to take a photo of her. On her phone’s camera screen, I could see stars, like there was a special filter . . . or not. Was there something about this woman’s energy which made electronic devices freak out?

Years ago, I had a display of prisms on my table at the psychic fair. One particular psychic walked up to the table and the pendulums began to swing. When she walked away, they stilled. She returned to my table two more times that day, and each time she stood in front of my table, the prisms swayed. Huh?

Some people seem to carry so much energy that they affect electronic devices and crystals.

When I have asked a few psychics if I could record their words, they have laughed and told me that it was fine to try, but voice recorders didn’t work around them. Their energy overwhelmed voice recorders and watches.

In a similar vein, my husband shared this story from many years ago. At a computer-based school, a woman formatted all the floppy disks (remember floppy disks?). They all seemed to format just fine, but by the end of the semester every disk had failed. More personally, one day, this woman walked through the computer lab greeting people. Every person she touched on the shoulder had their data disk wiped out that day. Coincidence?

I think we’ve all had deceased people try to contact us using electronic devices. This is a bit different because these were living people whose energy overpowered items near them.

“Let’s do a blessing for all of those who have walked though our lives. All of those who have left an imprint upon our soul. If it were not for those challenges that we had, in other lives as well as this life, we would not be who we are today. We would not be manifesting in the reality of who we are: divine beings of light.
